However, I then proposed a more reasonable price based on fair market value, which was accepted. We discussed my "trade-in" of the popular Honda Accord, which I bought new and had only 7,800 miles on it. As empty nesters, I wanted to return to my love for small sporty cars, especially the reliable Mazda Miata, rather than hybrids. I had considered a BMW 228i, but their quality had some issues in the past. Though I've never favored American-made cars, being raised in Texas has made me appreciate them. Nick was fantastic to work with; our enjoyable conversations felt more like friendly banter. He was straightforward and fair, making the process smooth and pleasant. I love my new Miata, which takes up half the space of the Accord. While its gas mileage is poor compared to a hybrid, I only commute once a week, so fuel costs aren’t a concern. Outstanding experience with Marco Careaga and his team. Sold my used jeep and it was a pleasant and fair experience.

Work on cooling system was performed over a coupke of days. I also wanted 11 year old hoses changed. They replaced leaky radiator, the pressure tested system before changing hoses. They systems causes 2 gallons of coolant to be charged for each hose being replaced. Should have replaced hoses in first place, then service system wouldn't have been charging me 4 gallons of antifreeze at $27 each gallon (got 2 gallons reduced).

In 16 years of dealing with both Helfman River Oaks and Helfman on I-10, I have never once felt compelled to leave a positive review. Unfortunately, my experiences over the years have generally been anything but positive or pleasant. Matt is the exception — and a remarkable one. Every single time I need help with my Jeep, Matt is the person I trust. He is honest, straightforward, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about making sure I know exactly what is going on with my vehicle. And one of the things I appreciate MOST about Matt is that HE EXPLAINS EVERYTHING TO ME — WITHOUT MANsplaining!!! Seriously. Everything. What they found, what it means, what needs to be fixed, why it needs to be fixed, what my options are, what can wait, and what actually matters. He takes the time to answer my questions and makes sure I understand before moving forward. But he does it without ever talking down to me, patronizing me, assuming I don’t understand because I’m a woman, or making me feel like I shouldn’t be asking questions. There is a huge difference between explaining something and mansplaining it, and Matt clearly understands that difference! I never feel like Matt is trying to sell me something I don’t need. I never feel pressured, dismissed, or made to feel stupid for asking a question. He gives me the information, explains it clearly, and lets me make an informed decision. If Matt tells me my Jeep needs something, I trust him — and that level of trust with a service advisor is incredibly valuable.
