2023 Dodge Charger Scat Pack vs. 2023 Ford Mustang GT

There are few more well-known names among muscle cars than the Dodge Charger and the Ford Mustang. Dodge looks to send off the Charger model line with a bang with the 2023 Dodge Charger Scat Pack trim. The team at Helfman Dodge Chrysler Jeep® RAM FIAT compares these two legends one last time to determine who reigns supreme.

Raw Performance

The Dodge Charger Scat Pack brings performance to the forefront. Under its well-built hood, the Scat Pack boasts a 6.4-liter 392 HEMI® V8 engine, which outputs a robust 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The 20-inch performance tires with forged aluminum rims and the eight-speed automatic transmission give you the capability to handle all that power without breaking a sweat.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Ford Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter engine maxes out at 450 horsepower and is enabled by a six-speed transmission. The power here is still respectable, but with only 18-inch tires, it feels a bit watered down.

Overall Comfort

The Scat Pack turns every drive into a luxury with heated driver and passenger seats. The driver seat additionally features eight-way directional power control. The new Dodge car seats five in total, and still manages to find room for a plentiful 16.5 cubic feet of cargo space.

The Mustang GT looks somewhat puny by comparison, with a total cargo space only amounting to 13.5 cubic feet, and seating only for four.

Safety Comparison

One underappreciated aspect of any new muscle car is its ability to protect both itself and you, the driver. Here, the Scat Pack proves a stalwart bodyguard, hosting much standard safety features the Mustang GT lacks, including:

  • 1st– and 2nd-row overhead airbags
  • Height adjustable seatbelts
  • Electronic stability control with anti-roll
  • ABS and driveline traction control
  • Rear parking sensors
